NiiMD Tips For eye And Lip Makeup!

NiiMD Tips For eye And Lip Makeup!

Eyeliner is used to outline and define the upper eye lid, the under eye, or both. Although a rich brown or blackeyeliner will look great on brown eyes, a colored liner in either a purple or eggplant shade will look simply stunning and draw attention to green eyes. In addition to a colored pencil, white eyeliner is a crisp alternative that instantly brightens the eyes and lends a retro vibe to your look. To keep your eyes the focus, apply a neutral makeup palette and avoid a dark lipstick, sticking with a rosewood or sheer apricot gloss instead!

NiiMD MAKE BRONZER APPLICATION EASY!

MAKE BRONZER APPLICATION EASY!

At NiiMD Makeup School applying bronzer may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be that way!
1. Choose wisely. Bronzers come in a variety of formulas — cream, liquid, gel, mist, even bronzers built into foundation — but powder is easy for anyone to master.

2. Brush up. For the most natural-looking application, use a soft, fluffy brush that isn't too dense. This way, you can distribute color lightly and evenly.

3. Paint by numbers. to get a sun-kissed hint of color, imagine making a number three on your face. "Start above the brow, down the temple, over the cheek, down the jawline toward the chin," Apply one or two coats for a subtle hint of sun so you appear radiant and glowing without going overboard.

NiiMD Minty Fresh!

Minty Fresh

If you’ve been thinking about experimenting with eyeshadows beyond basic neutrals but don’t want to go too crazy, we at NiiMD Makeup School have got just the trend for you. It’s mint! First seen in the spring on the 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2011 runway, this hue brightens the eye area and draws attention (without being overly dramatic). The trick is to find a shade that isn’t loaded with heavy pigments. This way, you can continue building color until you’ve reached your desired shade. Start by lightly dusting it on. If you still want to mellow out the shade, try layering it over a light taupe or beige shadow. Two of our favourites at NiiMD Makeup School: Stila’s Cha Cha and YSL’s new Garden of Eden palette.

NiiMD Beauty Trend Winged Eyeliner!

Beauty Trend: Winged Eyeliner

One of our favourite makeup trends at NiiMD Makeup School for summer is retro-inspired winged eyeliner, and we can’t wait to pair the look with our summer fashions. This chic and sleek eyeliner style is just the thing to brighten up your eyes and add some graphic interest to your makeup palate. The vivacious style has been popping up on some of our favorite celebrities on the red carpet. Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain sported eye-catching eyeliner at the Oscars. Winged eyeliner has also made its way onto the runway, as Jonathon Saunders decked out his models with a thick, powerful take on the trend. Although the look is a classic – it just screams ’50s and ’60s glamour – it’s easy to make it modern and make it your own.

Creating a dramatic, sweeping line with your eyeliner is a go-to for a night out with the girls, it instantly accentuates the eyes and is a surefire attention grabber. While a thinner, more demure line is ideal for adding a sweetly romantic twist to your casual daytime makeup. Winged eyeliner can be used to create a variety of other looks. It can be sassy, alluring, coy, or even prim and proper, depending on how you choose to draw on the liner. While experimenting with a new eyeliner style may seem daunting at first, trying out different winged styles can help you find a look that works for every outfit and every occasion. Don’t worry about creating a perfect line the first time, either, just be sure to have that trusty eye makeup remover handy. So grab your eye pencil or your liquid liner and give this fun, fashionable summer trend a whirl.

NiiMD The Waterline!

We at NiiMD Makeup School wanted to do this particular experiment to show you how the laws of shading apply to the waterline as well: lighter colors reflect and open up areas by bringing them forward while darker colours absorb and close up areas by pushing them back.
WHITE LINER: This definitely opened up the eyes and made them appear the biggest, but in a more obvious way as one can see the white liner. Try Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Liner in Blanc because its color payoff is unmatched.
NUDE LINER: This also opened up the eyes, making them look larger, but in a verynatural and undetectable way. Try Stila Kajal Liner in Topaz.
BLACK LINER: This closed up the eyes and made them look a little smaller, but in return, they look way more piercing. Try NARS Larger Than Life Longwear Liner in Via Veneto.

NiiMD Eye Focus Inner Corner!

We at NiiMD Makeuo School love applying a light color to the inner corners of the eyes because it brightens the face and widens + separates the eyes by creating the illusion that they are further apart.  But using a gold shadow takes it to another level of sophistication and elegance. The only rule is to pair it with darker shades on the lid, as the gold has to be the lightest shade on your eye. Here’s exactly how to pull it off:

TOOLS
Highlighting eyeshadow or shadow stick in a light gold shade , dome-shaped shadow brush or fingers. We at NiiMD Makeup School love Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow in Sandy Gold andNARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in HollywoodLand. Our favorite brush for the inner corners is Space NK’s Domed Smudge Brush.

After finishing your eyeshadow and liner, but before applying mascara, swirl the brush or pat your index finger in the highlighting shadow then with eyes closed, press it directly on top of your inner corners (the width of your finger/brush will automatically cover both the top + bottom part of your lids directly to the sides of your nose). If you’re using a shadow stick, pick a wide + chubby one and cover the same areas as listed above, just make sure to go back with your finger and blend.  Such a little thing to do that does so much!

NiiMD Cake Liner!

Here’s a big secret from NiiMD Makeup School for those of you deathly afraid of liquid liner! Cake liner (invented a century ago and used on all the Hollywood icons) is the easiest way to define your eyes… be it winged, cat eye, or simply lining. It’s merely a black matte shadow applied wet with a pointed liner brush. Here’s all you need to know:
1. Dip your brush in running water from your sink to wet it then swirl it in circles in the shadow to load it up.

2. Practice drawing lines on the back of your hand by applying more/less pressure to see how it affects the width. {More pressure = wider, less pressure = thinner.}3. Start at your inner corner and sweep the brush to the outer corner. You can also extend it out for a winged look or out + up for a cat eye. If desired, line your bottom lash line as well.

That’s it! Our favorite at NiiMD Makeup School is Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner because it comes in seven shades.

NiiMD Got Glitter?

Here are some quick tips & tricks along with some of our favorite glitters at NiiMD Makeup Schools, glues + tools. We’ve also listed which stores will have them so you can go in and pick them up last minute…

1. NYX Cosemetics “Glitter Cream Palette” $5.50 Urban Outfitters, Ulta & some CVS stores
2. Deborah Lippman nail polish in “Boom Boom Pow” $20 Nordstrom
3. OPI Muppets Collection in “Rainbow Collection” Ulta or your local beauty supply
4. Sephora Collection Glitter Eyeliner $12. Sephora
5. Sephora silicone glitter applicator brush $3 Sephora
6. Makeup Forever Glitter Pots $13. Macy’s
7. Makeup Forever Eye Seal $17 Sephora
8. TooFaced Glitter Glue $18 Sephora, Ulta
9. Urban Decay “Heavy Metal Collection” $14 Ulta, Sephora
10. NARS “Super Orgasm” blush $28 Sephora, Neiman Marcus

BEST TIPS + TRICKS:
  • If you choose silver, gold or opalescent glitter, you can wear almost any shade of lipstick with it (red, vamp, fuchsia, nude).
  • If you choose colored glitter (blue, green, purple, red), you’ll want to pair it with a nudelip as you’re already making a strong statement with your eyes.
  • Use a longwear cream eyeshadow (like the NYX palettes above) or use a glitter glue as your base so the glitter can adhere.
  • Don’t apply under eye concealer or foundation until after you finish your glitter shadow. That way the glitter won’t have anything to stick to if it falls.
  • For bigger glitter chunks, you can individually place pieces using lash glue.
  • Use a piece of paper or a business card and place it underneath your eye to catch the glitter that falls off as you apply (or) apply extra face powder underneath your eye just before applying the glitter so you can easily swipe off the excess that falls below your eye using a powder brush and nothing will stick to your makeup.
  • WASH OFF YOUR MAKEUP WHEN YOU GET HOME.
  • Soak glitter glue with warm water.
  • Gently go in with a makeup towelette afterward to clear off any remaining pieces of glitter so they don’t get stuck in your pores!
